The Power of Community: How Local Businesses Thrive Through Mutual Support

Hello and welcome back my jewelry-loving friends.

If you are reading this then you most likely live in Elizabeth City, where the community helps small businesses like mine thrive.

I have been a part of this amazing artist-filled community for over two years now and wow has it been amazing. From the monthly art walk, the Saturday Flea Market, and now the Potato Festival.

The Art Walk has to be my favorite local event as every storefront allows an artist or two to set up outside their shop and display their work. On the first Friday of every month, the streets are filled with live music, yummy food, and the best art. You also never know who you might run into, possibly some Disney princesses promoting a local candy shop or Malik dressed as a Marvel character to promote a movie made by him and other locals. Possibly even a person with a TV on their head or Nutty the famous pet squirrel.

Elizabeth City depicts art in every form.

While I try to visit different shops to set up for the art walk. Jade Whale Co. will always be my favorite, from their prime location and welcoming vibe to the amazing owner Mrs. Diana who allows me to set up last minute.. haha

If you cannot find what you are looking for on my booth you are bound to find it inside Jade Whale Co. as they carry all daily essentials from cold drinks and warm clothing to the best-of-the-best skateboards, home and car decor and so much more. On the rare occasion you don't find anything you like, head down to the Kraken for a personalized coffee order.

You can also catch me at the Flea market every Saturday from 10-2 where you'll see me practicing my lapidary skills, creating crystal mining bags, and learning everything I can about the crystals I use to create jewelry.

Last but certainly not least the Potatoe Festival is going on THIS weekend. There will be carnival rides/games, yummy food, and live music. They even designated a specific area for a wine garden and of course, all the local vendors will be there. While I did not secure my own booth this year, Toyko Customz LLC has been kind enough to allow me to bring a few of my items to display with all of their handmade goods.
